Environment management in SAP S/4HANA Cloud Private Edition (RISE)
In SAP S/4HANA Cloud Private Edition, SAP’s Enterprise Cloud Services (ECS) teams take over the technical management of the lower layers of your environment (operating system and databases), as well as a majority of SAP BC operations. However, around 20% of ERP S/4HANA tasks remain the responsibility of the customer or their managed services partner.

SAP managed services activities in RISE
EnAs an SAP RISE customer, you have the choice of taking charge of these tasks or outsourcing them to a managed services partner. Recurring activities include:
- Supervision applicative (analyse de dump, EarlyWatch Alert, etc.).
- Transport, printing and certificate management.
- Business job planning.
- SAP account administration and authorizations.
- Pre/post Refresh operations (table export/import, BDLS, OT reimport, etc.).
Coordination time is also required to interact with SAP’s ECS teams via ” Service Requests ” to manage updates, patches, and maintenance.
When should you choose a managed services contract ?
It is advisable to anticipate managed services from the outset of the project to ensure effective implementation of Cloud ALM monitoring. Currently, the majority of Rise customers opt for the project integrator as their managed services provider. However, depending on experience, some partners may stand out for their quality of service.
Cloud ALM: The SAP RISE monitoring solution
SAP Cloud Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) is SAP’s cloud-based monitoring solution. It is available to SAP Rise customers as well as those with an S/4HANA On-Premise license.
Standard features used by Applium :

- Job tracking.
- Interface and exception error management.
Cloud ALM: The Applium recommendation
When migrating to SAP Rise, it’s vital to anticipate the supervision of your environment with Cloud ALM, and to choose a managed services partner to ensure operational continuity.
This was the case for Maison Johanès Boubée, who entrusted us with all supervision and administration tasks during the migration project, and renewed their confidence in us by signing a managed services contract.
Applium positions itself as an intermediary between you and SAP, covering BC administration tasks not handled by the publisher, and the coordination of technical operations.
